Installation

System Requirements

Before installing Parrot Scribe, ensure your Mac meets these requirements:

• macOS: 15.0 (Sequoia) or later
• Processor: Apple Silicon (M1 or later) - Intel Macs are not supported
• RAM: 8 GB minimum (16 GB recommended)
• Storage: ~500 MB for the application and base models. The large model requires ~1.6 GB additional space.

Download Parrot Scribe

1. Download Parrot Scribe (stable release)
2. The installer package will download to your Downloads folder

Install the Application

1. Open the downloaded ParrotScribe.pkg file
2. Follow the installation wizard prompts
3. When prompted, enter your administrator password
4. Parrot Scribe will be installed in your Applications folder

Grant Required Permissions

Parrot Scribe needs two permissions to capture audio:

Microphone Access

On first launch, macOS will ask for microphone permission:

1. Click OK when the permission dialog appears
2. If you accidentally denied it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable Parrot Scribe

System Audio Recording

To capture system audio (what you hear), Parrot Scribe needs System Audio Recording permission:

1. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → System Audio Recording
2. Enable the toggle for Parrot Scribe
3. Restart Parrot Scribe for the change to take effect

Verify Installation

1. Open Parrot Scribe from your Applications folder
2. You should see the Parrot Scribe icon in your menu bar
3. Click the icon to open the menu bar dropdown
