Required Permissions

ParrotScribe needs specific macOS permissions to capture audio. If permissions aren't granted, transcription won't work.

Microphone Permission

Symptom

• No transcription when speaking
• "Microphone access required" message

Fix

1. Open System Settings
2. Go to Privacy & Security → Microphone
3. Find ParrotScribe in the list
4. Enable the toggle
5. Restart ParrotScribe

If ParrotScribe isn't listed

1. Quit ParrotScribe completely
2. Open ParrotScribe again
3. macOS should prompt for permission
4. Click OK to grant access

System Audio Recording Permission

Symptom

• Microphone works but system audio doesn't
• "System Audio Recording permission required" message

Fix

1. Open System Settings
2. Go to Privacy & Security → System Audio Recording
3. Find ParrotScribe in the list
4. Enable the toggle
5. Restart ParrotScribe (required for this permission)

Verifying Permissions

Check System Settings → Privacy & Security to verify ParrotScribe has the required permissions enabled.

Still Having Issues?

If permissions are granted but still not working:

1. Revoke the permission in System Settings
2. Restart ParrotScribe
3. Grant the permission again when prompted
4. Restart ParrotScribe once more
