First Transcription

Version: This guide describes Parrot Scribe 1.1.0.

Quick Start

Start listening from the Parrot Scribe menu bar icon, then read the transcript in Library.

Start Transcribing

1. Click the Parrot Scribe icon in your menu bar.
2. Click Start Listening. The first time, Parrot Scribe may ask you to download a speech model and grant permissions.
3. Start speaking or play audio. The live transcript appears in the Library window.
4. Click Stop Listening when you're done.

Parrot Scribe finishes transcribing and saves the session automatically.

What Gets Captured

Parrot Scribe can capture two audio sources:

Microphone - Your voice and room audio. Use for meetings and conversations.

System Audio - What plays through your Mac. Use for online meetings and recorded briefings.

By default, both sources are enabled. You can change them in Settings > Sources.

Check Speech Language in Settings > General before recording. Its initial value follows your Mac's language: English uses English Only, while German, French, Spanish and Swedish use Auto. Choose Auto for non-English or mixed-language recordings.

You can also transcribe existing recordings: choose Import Audio Files… from the File menu or the menu bar icon, or drag audio and video files into Library.

Find Your Transcription

Click Show Library… from the menu bar icon to review saved sessions. Select a session to read the transcript, play the recording and review speakers in the same window. See Library.

If the transcript has generic labels such as "Speaker 1", open the session and choose Identify Speakers, enter the names and select Save Changes. See Speaker Recognition.
