How Licensing Works

Parrot Scribe uses a device-based licensing model:

  • Each license allows activation on a limited number of devices
  • Devices can be activated and deactivated as needed
  • Your license is tied to your email address

Activating a Device

First Activation

  1. Open Parrot Scribe on the new device
  2. Enter your license key when prompted
  3. Click Activate

Additional Devices

If you have device slots available, simply repeat the activation process on each device.

Deactivating a Device

To free up a device slot:

  1. Open Parrot Scribe on a device where your license is currently active
  2. Go to Settings -> License
  3. Click Manage next to the device count
  4. In the device list, choose the device you want to remove
  5. Confirm the deactivation

The device slot is now available for another device.

If your license covers multiple devices, you can deactivate another activated Mac from this list. If your license is only active on one Mac, deactivate that Mac before transferring to a new one.

Lost Access to a Device?

If you no longer have access to a device (sold, stolen, broken), contact support with your license email and we'll help free up the device slot.

Checking Active Devices

To see your device usage:

  1. Go to Settings → License in Parrot Scribe
  2. View "Devices: X of Y" showing current usage
  3. Click Manage to view device details or deactivate

Transferring Devices

To move Parrot Scribe to a new Mac:

  1. Open Settings -> License -> Manage on a currently activated device
  2. Deactivate the old device from the list
  3. Activate on the new device

This ensures you stay within your device limit.
