Activation & Deactivation

Manage your license on devices

Section: License ManagementUpdated August 31, 2026

How Licensing Works

Personal use is free and requires no license. In-app checkout activates Pro automatically. Organization and previously issued email keys use the activation flow below.

  • Pro supports up to five active devices.
  • Organization and legacy licenses keep the device limit they were issued with.
  • Devices can be activated and deactivated as needed.
  • License recovery uses the registered email address.

To buy Pro or change a plan in the app, see Activation.

Activating a Device

First Activation

  1. Open Parrot Scribe on the new device.
  2. Click the activation link in your confirmation email, or open Settings > License and choose Part of an organization? Activate your organization's license. That control opens the key window for Pro, organization, and legacy keys.
  3. Paste the license key if the activation window did not fill it automatically.
  4. Click Activate.

Additional Devices

If the license has an available device slot, repeat the activation process on each Mac.

Checking Your License

Open Settings > License to see the current license status. Device usage and a Manage action appear when device management is available for that license.

Deactivating a Device

To free a device slot:

  1. Open Settings > License on a Mac where the license is active.
  2. Click Manage next to the device count.
  3. Select the device you want to deactivate.
  4. Confirm the deactivation.

The slot is then available for another Mac. If the license supports only one active Mac, deactivate the old Mac before transferring the license.

Transferring to a New Mac

  1. Open Settings > License > Manage on a currently activated Mac.
  2. Deactivate the old Mac.
  3. Activate the license on the new Mac.

Lost Access to a Device?

If the old Mac was sold, stolen, or no longer works, contact support with the license email address. Support can help free the device slot.
