Free and Pro Licenses

Parrot Scribe is free for personal use. Manual transcription needs no account or license key. Download Parrot Scribe and start transcribing.

Pro adds automatic meeting recording for Zoom and Microsoft Teams and AI-app access, on up to five devices.

Prices exclude VAT. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

Buy Pro in the App

1. Open Settings > License and choose Get Pro. If you start from Settings > General > Meetings, Open License takes you there.
2. Choose a plan and select Review Plan.
3. Read the summary and select Confirm Plan. Parrot Scribe opens the hosted payment page; review the final total before paying.
4. Complete payment in the checkout sheet.

Pro activates on this Mac after payment and license verification, and the window shows Pro is activated on this Mac. Closing checkout does not refund a completed payment. If you close it after paying, or if confirmation times out, activate with the key in your email.

To switch plans, choose Change Pro Plan in Settings > License. Monthly to annual changes immediately, with prorated billing. Annual to monthly starts after your paid year. Lifetime cannot be changed to a subscription. A subscription change can charge a prorated amount plus VAT immediately, without another payment page, or be scheduled for later.

Keep the license key from your email. You need it to activate Pro on another Mac.

Activate an Emailed License Key

A license key looks like this:

Pro, organization and legacy keys all use the steps below. If you cannot find the email, use License Recovery.

Use the activation link

If your license email includes an activation link:

1. On the Mac you want to activate, open the link.
2. Parrot Scribe opens Settings > License with the key filled in.
3. Choose Activate Pro.

Enter the key manually

1. Open Settings > License.
2. Paste the key into License key.
3. Choose Activate Pro.

When activation succeeds, the pane shows Pro is active and, when the license service reports it, the number of activated devices.

Switch to a different key

While Pro is active, the key field is hidden. To move this Mac to a different key, open Manage devices, deactivate This Mac, then enter the new key. If the license owner manages devices, ask them to remove this Mac.

If you open another key's activation link instead, Parrot Scribe asks before activating it in place of the active key. Your recordings and settings stay unchanged, but the old key's activation keeps its device slot.

Activation Troubleshooting

"This license key was not found"

The license service does not recognize the key.

• Copy the complete key again from the email, not from a screenshot.
• If you no longer have the email, use License Recovery.

"The device limit for this license has been reached"

All device slots for the license are in use. Open Settings > License, choose Manage devices and deactivate a Mac you no longer use. See Device Limits. If device management is unavailable for your license, contact its owner or support.

"The license server could not be reached"

Parrot Scribe needs internet access to activate or validate a license. Your saved activation is unchanged.

1. Check the internet connection.
2. Confirm that a firewall or VPN does not block Parrot Scribe.
3. Try activation again.

Other license messages

• Enter a license key in the format PS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.: the key is incomplete or mistyped. Keys use capital letters and digits, and never contain I, L, O, 0 or 1.
• Too many validation attempts: wait a moment and try again.
• License storage is locked: unlock your Mac and try again.
• This license has expired, This license has been revoked or This license has been refunded: contact support.

Offline Grace Period

The license service sets a date by which the license must be validated online again. After that date, Pro stays active for a 7-day grace period, and Settings > License shows Pro is active during the offline grace period. Revalidate when online. While Parrot Scribe is open and online during the grace period, it revalidates automatically. You can also choose Revalidate license.

If the grace period ends first, Pro features stop and the pane shows Your saved license needs online validation to restore Pro. Choose Revalidate license when you are online to restore Pro. If the Mac's clock moves backwards, Pro also stops until you check the date and time and choose Revalidate license.
