Granola alternative

A Granola alternative when the meeting must stay on your Mac

Granola puts the AI inside the note-taking app. Parrot Scribe keeps the transcription, the recording, and the library on your Mac, and lets the AI app you already use read it, live or later. No bot in either.

FAQ

Why use Parrot Scribe instead of Granola?

Choose Granola when you want the AI inside the note-taking app, writing notes for you and sharing them with your team. Choose Parrot Scribe when you want the AI app you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to work from your transcripts, while transcription and the recording stay on your Mac.

Does either app join the call as a bot?

No. Both capture your microphone and the Mac’s system audio, so no bot appears in the meeting. The difference is where the audio goes next: Granola sends it to cloud transcription providers, and Parrot Scribe transcribes it on your Mac.

Does Parrot Scribe write meeting notes like Granola?

Not by itself, and that is the design. Parrot Scribe builds the transcript library. With Pro, the AI app you already use connects to it through MCP, reads the live transcript during the call or any past session, and writes notes the way you ask, with the model and prompts you choose.

Can my own AI agent follow the meeting live?

With Parrot Scribe Pro, yes. The AI app you connect through MCP reads the transcript while the call is still running, so it can answer questions, track decisions, or draft a follow-up before the meeting ends. Granola offers live chat inside its own app, but its MCP describes notes, transcripts, and attachments and does not document live access.
