Understanding output files and formats
Output Location
By default, ParrotScribe saves transcriptions to ~/Documents/ParrotScribe/.
Each session creates a .tscript file named with the session's start and end timestamps (e.g., 2026-01-11T11-07-59+08-00_2026-01-11T12-03-43+08-00.tscript). Symlinks current.tscript and previous.tscript point to the most recent sessions.
You can change the output directory in Settings → Output.
TSCRIPT Format
The .tscript format is a timestamped, structured format:
00:00:05,M,C,1,0.95,2.3,en,Hello, this is the microphone audio.
00:00:08,S,C,2,0.92,1.8,en,And this is system audio.
Fields: timestamp,source,status,segment,confidence,duration,lang,text
- source: M=microphone, S=system audio, E=events
- status: C=confirmed, U=unconfirmed
- confidence: 0-1 accuracy score
- duration: segment length in seconds
- lang: detected language code (e.g., en, sv, de)
Customizing Output
In Settings → Output, you can configure the output directory location.
