## Product

Parrot Scribe is private meeting transcription for Mac. It records the microphone and the Mac's system audio, so it hears everyone on a call in any app and the people in the room, and transcribes on the Mac with Whisper large-v3 through WhisperKit. No bot joins the call, transcription runs locally, and the library is encrypted on disk. Version 1.0.1 runs on macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon. Optional AI connections let an agent read transcripts; a cloud-based agent sends what it reads to its provider.

Commercial model: free for personal use with unlimited on-device transcription and no account. Pro Monthly is $9.99/month excl. VAT. Pro Annual is $59.99/year excl. VAT. Pro Lifetime is $199 one-time. All Pro plans cover up to 5 devices. Automatic meeting detection is a Pro feature. MCP is a Pro feature, opt-in, and off by default. Teams and Sovereign are not current products. There is no trial.

- The guide starts with ChatGPT, Claude, then Cursor. Parrot Scribe 1.0.2 connects each one from Settings > AI Apps.
- Requires Parrot Scribe Pro and the running Mac app with Allow AI apps turned on. Desktop rows do not use a copied token. Other local hosts still use one token each.
- Open the selected desktop AI app before Connect. The app stays connected while you use it, including after quitting and reopening it (Parrot Scribe 1.0.5 or later; earlier versions end approval when the AI app quits). Choose Manage… > Connect again after Disconnect, or after 90 days without use.
- The public plugin catalog remains for Claude Code and the Codex CLI. It does not install the ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor rows.
- Claude can still show its own red unreviewed-extension warning. Do not promise that warning is gone, and do not claim a vendor approved the app icon.
- Tokens and permissions control agent access. A cloud-based agent sends the transcript content it reads to its provider.

- Delete a speaker's voice profile, or remove their words from every transcript
- Import audio, video, and Voice Memos recordings by dragging them onto the Library
- Export in 11 formats: PDF, Markdown, Plain Text, SRT, VTT, CSV, JSONL, TOON, Audio (M4A), Transcript Bundle, and Syslog
- Encryption at rest: AES-256-GCM for transcripts, recordings, and speaker data; SQLCipher for the search index
- The library key lives in the macOS Keychain; a 24-word recovery key restores it on a new Mac; no Parrot Scribe server holds a copy
- Support diagnostics are sent only when the user chooses, encrypted, and without transcript text, audio, names, or keys
- Pro: automatic recording when a Zoom or Microsoft Teams meeting starts, stopping when it ends
- Pro: a built-in MCP server so an AI assistant can read past transcripts or follow a live session, with its own token and the permissions the user chooses

## Important constraints

- Requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later on Apple Silicon (M1 or later); Intel Macs are not supported
- Parrot Scribe does not write summaries itself; with Pro, the user's own AI assistant can summarize through MCP
- MCP is optional and off by default; a cloud-based assistant sends what it reads to its provider
- Pro features check the license online every 30 days, with 7 days of grace; transcription itself never needs a license
- Recording laws differ by country and state; users should tell people they are transcribing and get consent where required
